" He is made from left over scraps of material (yellow

buttons. He is stuffed with old socks and scraps of fabric.
He is a mixure between a creature from "where the wild
things are", and something out 'the Goonies'."

a recycled frog stuffed animal, legs & arms made from
recycled MONSTEROUS & scary

hair, electrifying royal blue chicken hackles, the recycled
face of a certain villian, & busting out of hacklehog

"This is Io and he is a terrifying alien monster. His
favorite planet is Jupiter. He's a bit chubby and he loves
to kiss! I had some half-finished projects that I didn't
think I'd ever complete, so I unraveled them and reused
the yarn to make Io. He's crocheted from cotton yarn with
some details (face, antennae) crocheted with a sparkly polyester
yarn. "

"She is made from a favourite pair of socks that had
worn out and stuffed with the lint and bits of yarn that
gather under my loom when I'm weaving, as well as fabric
scraps too small to use for anything else. Her dress is
made from the sleeve of an old shirt of my mom's, her hair
ribbon came off a present someone gave me, and her hair
is the hand-dyed yarn from an old weaving project gone terribly
wrong (that I just couldn't bear to throw out). She likes
to read and climb trees."

and his sort of evil grin. He is made from some very scary

too long. The stripe is an old tshirt. "

appropriate! The green wool felt is revoltingly stiff and
unsewable stuff which was about to get binned in my sewing

old buttons that belonged to my 90 year old aunt, and he
is stuffed with the stuffing from an abandoned softie that
never had any future!"

who wanted me to make tham a toy like Boo! from the childrens
cartoon. I made his body and arms, but hadn't gotten around
to doing his features or legs. Wherever I put this unfinished
creature, he always ended up near my machine (yes, I do
think my eldset son put him there to try and get me to finish
him, but that explanation ruins the mystery!)..."

"This is my first recycled monster. She started life
as a tea-cosy. My daughter's drawer of "special things"
was invaluable in providing the hat (which used to contain
lavender), the bangle for her mouth, the plait and the flowers.
I used polished stones and two star anise for her eyes.
Doris is demure, fragrant and very ladylike. She represents

"Why buttons? I recently returned to work from successful
thrift shopping at lunchtime looking for vintage buttons.
Excitedly showing my boss the buttons, I wondered why she'd
gone quiet and a little strange....I mean, why not be as
excited as I was about the scabby looking bunch of buttons
that obviously needed a wash? It wasn't until a few hours
later I remembered that she had (and still has slightly)
a phobia of buttons. As a child they made her feel ill.
Any clothes she wore couldn't have buttons! Apparently this
isn't as unusual as I thought."
