School is back and Lily has decided to start afternoon napping again which is kind of her, so I am getting a little bit of creative time:
1) painting wooden dolls
2) getting back to those marshmallow bunnies
3) piling stuff on my sewing table
4) reading “On Writing” by Stephen King but not actually doing too much writing. It’s good! I haven’t read much SK before but even his memoir is a page-turner.

I am taking part in Koo’s My Creative Space meme again this week and, as per the game plan, I have hidden a heart somewhere on my desk. For easier heart-hunting you can click on the photo for a bigger image.
My creative space is getting tidier this week. I have to clear the decks for a onslaught of gocco printing and bunny sewing.

Here’s my Paper Moon illustration, slightly changed to satisfy my inner (and outer!) critics. I am working on rescanning and making colour seperations this week, ready for printing up next week. Fun!

Just a quick note as I have had a few emails today about the availability of Loobylu bunnies. I am working on a small group of bunnies which will be on sale at the end of June along with some prints and other bits and pieces. Please stay tuned to loobylu.com or twitter.com/loobylu for upcoming information on exact dates and items. Thanks!
If you are interested in having a look at some of the bunnies I have made in the past, you can see a few here.

Heather was on Oprah today (in the States). That’s pretty exciting; Go Heather!
But ALSO my toys were on Oprah! In the background! Look, see?
23rd February 2009

I have finished my little wonky rabbit and she is now on ebay, with the full proceeds of the auction being donated to the Australian Red Cross Bushfire Appeal. Just think, not only will you be helping some Victorian people who are truly in need but you will be gaining a new little soft friend.
Please note that this auction will be in Australian Dollars (making it all the cheaper for some of you international folk) and that I am going to be donating 100% of the proceeds to the Red Cross.
She isn’t really toddler/baby friendly as she has buttons but if you are so inclined, you could snip the buttons off without too much trouble. That being said, she isn’t really built to withstand lots of rough play, but my kids have loved their versions of these toys for several years now and they seem to be holding up ok.

I hope you like her! See handmade help for lots more ideas for helping out those in need.
Thanks for looking! And bidding

Wow, that was a bit of an unscheduled break, but I’m back! Back in time for My Creative Space. This week I am making a couple of rabbits – one I am going to put up for auction with all proceeds going to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal, the other is for a trade I *still* owe for some of those fab vintage wall plaques. I have also been doing a little bit of writing, and still calling it a “learning experience”. 56,000 words is quite the learning experience.
Links I have been loving this week with regards to creativity:
* Elizabeth Gilbert talks about genius at the TED talks. LOVE this. Take the 20 minutes to enjoy it. (thanks Chelsea!)
* Writing and music, thoughts on writing by Haruki Murakami
* Daily Routines, “How writers, artists and other interesting people orgaize their days” (via don’t question me)
ALSO check out the latest issue of Frankie magazine for my contribution to the Meet Me At Mikes book – and get ready to buy your copy very soon for more such goodness (and much better resolution photos).
ALSO – I’m still loving Twitter. Please come and play along!
Stay tuned for bunny auction details. I hope to list her early next week.
25th November 2008

Finally I have got a little bit organised and have sewn the buttons on my 5 Marshmallow bunnies and they are ready to go on sale, just in time for the silly season.
After lots of deliberation I have decided to list them on ebay rather than etsy as there are only 5 and I have had a barrow load of enquiries – so I couldn’t think of an easier way to let everyone have a fair go at getting in. Because of this, I am donating 5% of the sale of the rabbits to Oxfam Australia and it’s only a three day auction so I can get them off as soon as possible so that they will reach people in plenty of time for Christmas.
Please note that these auctions are in Australian dollars.
Lots more photos and details here.
12th September 2008

I am getting there. I found a couple of spare hours today, ransacked Lily’s room to turn it into a photo studio of sorts (you should have seen my scary looking lighting set up… towers of bed-side lamps teetering of mountains of stacked furniture), did some very amateurish styling and photographed three of the five rabbits in various set ups and then my camera battery ran out… and then we had to find the recharger… and then I needed a cup of tea… and then I realised that the rabbits aren’t actually finished and I was going to sew little buttons on their dresses… how did I forget that?… and so it comes to a grinding halt for the time being.
I don’t know if I am going to get a chance to list them for sale until late October when we get back from Japan – perhaps by then the 5 rabbits will have become 10 as I have a whole bunch more cut out ready to be put together.
But I thought this was a cute shot regardless.
9th September 2008

I’ve been getting super jealous of Pip and her photo shoot. It sounds like a dream come true. This afternoon I finally finished my small group of five rabbit/mice things and thought I might do a little photo shoot trial run ready for the next sunny day. I asked Lily if she’d hold on to one of the girls hoping that it would give potential buyers some kind of idea of how big the toys are – but despite being hugely enthusiastic she really didn’t quite understand what we were trying to achieve. We had lots of intense movement; head shaking, rabbit shaking, dancing around… A zakka photo shoot this was not.
This one is called “Mummy, rabbit attack camera”:

Less blury photos to come in the next few days.
