Finally!

Hi Folks, just a quick note to let you know that Claire had a beautiful baby girl named Lillian Jan yesterday at about 5:30pm Melbourne time. They’re both doing well and we’re expecting them home at the end of the week.

Thanks,
Big-P

Slow Sunday

We are going in to the hospital every couple of days now to monitor the heart rate of our little tiny one. We had an ultrasound on Thursday and while the baby is now way to big to really see anything properly (to our untrained eye, obviously) we did see one thing quite clearly and that is she is definitely a SHE! She is doing well – so we will keep waiting until my next doctor’s appointment on Wednesday for further plans.

Honestly, I don’t blame her for staying tucked away in her warm, safe hiding spot. Apart from being freezing cold around here, Amelia is still coughing dramatically and Big-P came down with the same ear infection on Friday night. I have hardly any voice still and we have all been sleep deprived and grumpy and have gummy eyes – Delightful! However, last night we all slept a long long long sleep and all woke up in great spirits. Big-P even made us pancakes for breakfast. If we need a day to go into labour, today would be a good day to start.

Anyway, my world seems to be slowing down. I can’t do a lot. Even blogging seems hard now.

By the way – regarding those wonderful Japanese books which arrived here last week, Yvonne has made a tutorial on how to order books from Amazon JP — it couldn’t be easier! Thanks Yvonne. I have ordered from them several times and although I can’t understand a word of their order confirmation emails and what not, the books have always arrived quickly and in good order.

Journalistic fun times

There was an article in this morning’s Age about blogging which featured some comments by me — and while it sounds as though I have trouble stringing a sentence together, at least Darren came off sounding quite intelligent – no “like wow! sort of!”s coming out of his mouth.

By the way… have you seen Darren’s blog? – I think it’s a great resource if you are thinking about starting a commercial website. I have referred to it almost every day for the last couple of months while we were putting together Kiddley. I highly recommend it.

Today I am going in for a further ultrasound — just to make sure the baby is ok and it has enough fluid around it and so on. It will be most interesting to see a 41 week inutero baby in an ultrasound – theoretically it will be a finished, fully complete baby. Last time at 32 weeks we could see that Amelia had lots of hair — so I am curious to see the level of detail at 41 weeks. Perhaps they will be able to tell us more definitively whether it’s a boy or girl which will help the naming debates which are still raging.

Amelia has kindly shared her cold around so Big-P and I are both under the weather again. I have lost my voice almost completely so if I am lucky enough to go into labour today it might be an incredibly quiet ride – rivaling that of Tom and Katie!

A little something other than baby news

Today a delectable little parcel arrived. No, it wasn’t a tiny wailing human parcel, but almost as good – a parcel of books from Amazon.co.jp. I have been eyeing off these interior books for months and wondering if it’s worth the risk of the splurge – so when I saw Yvonne’s review I decided to take the plunge. And I am so glad I did! If you are into ultra modern, ultra chic interior design then perhaps these are not for you but I find them quite inspiring – real rooms full of real stuff – shabby, fun, odd, quirky and interesting. The text is all in Japanese and I am sure it would be great to read about the rooms, but gazing at the photos is still plenty enough.

Here are the links and the ISBNs (courtesy of Yvonne again) if you are interested in buying your own…

Petits Appartements à Paris Р4072504416
Chambres d’enfants √† Paris – 4072486744

I also got one additional title which I saw on Lisa’s blog some time ago — Stockholm’s Kitchens 4072499005.

They are all definitely worth the price plus shipping.

And I have added three blogs to my blogroll– Yvestown, HELLO my name is Heather (run, don’t walk, over there to download the booty pattern!) and Liquid Blog. All three are heartbreakingly pretty.

Brown

Stephanie and Mav are having a week of colour. The idea is to post a photo of something of a specified colour for each day of the week – yesterday was white which I missed, and tomorrow is black/grey which hopefully I will miss again because I will be way to busy puffing and so on. Hopefully. But today is brown. And I have been a bit naughty and borrowed a self-portrait of Amelia’s… because when I think brown I think about her eyes. And here’s the best shot I can find:
