Babel on

There is a blog I like to visit which is written in Portuguese. I can’t understand a word of it but I can look at her photos and from her photos I can tell that I would have a lot in common with Rosa. Some times I want to read what she is saying so I copy and paste it into Babel Fish and often end up being even more intrigued by the translation. Today it reads:

“disarmed f., that already does not give account of the message, that already does not wash nor clean, that it does not have domiciliário support of the mercy because the son sabotaged all my efforts. f., that says badly of the neighbors for the coasts, that lie down perdigotos, that fear puts me, that beats in the cat. f. touches me it the door and says that wool of a nightgown sobrou it that made for the great-granddaughter pulls of a plastic bag and shows to the acrylic color of rose bebé tricotado in rice point: ó pink m’na, is to see? thus I make one for almonds of and what she is that gives more skill to it, one camisolinha or one casaquinho?”

I told you! Intriguing! What can it all mean?

Cold and such

We all have colds and are having terrible sleeps and long days. I thought today was Thursday only to realise with a long sigh that we still have to do Wednesday.

Some links for today:

Of course, there is less than 24 hours left on the little green kitten suit clad guy auction. I promise there is definitely NOT a production line of these happening. I am just too tired to stitch felt.

The house of Katy Clove and Brent Ballantyne.

I’ve been spending a little time over at flickr.com which I highly recommend. Join the fun!

On Tuesday Waferbaby turned 9! Happy birthday old fella.

What I glossed over with the comment “Being a mum is hard” late in 2002, Dooce tells how it is. There have been tears of empathy with almost every entry at this here desk.

And we were so sad to hear about little Tigger, he who gave Amelia such a big, friendly kiss. Condolences Heather, Derek and Chieka.

Yey!

Mr Huggy

So I started of with some little drawings for ideas for felt doll monsters (very big hat tip to Maurice Sendak and the super cool Kaori Kasi). They looked simple enough to stitch together quickly…

And then I got around to making one up ready for a birthday this week… and discovered it’s not so simple and I should have made a pattern and I almost forgot the arms. They were added on at the last minute and are accidently way too long. So now it’s “Mr Huggy – the Hugging Monster”. I am a rather ad-hoc crafting type. I like to fly by the seat of my pants and thank my lucky stars that monsters are quite strange looking at the best of times. I kept Big-P well entertained as I held up the scary looking monster at various intervals and said things like “oops! I just sewed it’s ears together!” or “so what do ya think? It’s pretty ok isn’t it?” and “AHH! Look how long its arms are!” etc.

And as you can see, it’s a little funny lookin’. Happy Birthday Nic!!!
