Touching base

I have had a few days of no computer time – naps and school and playing in the rare bursts of sunshine and such things have tended to get in the way.

Yesterday morning Big-P, Amelia and I caught the train into the city and wandered over to Federation Square to have a look around the Ready Made Market which was on today as part of The State of Design Festival. It was small market with only two short aisles of stalls but the quality and the variety of stuff for sale was fabulous. I hope they have it again next year and perhaps I can get some stuff together to sell.

We met up with Nic and Jud to do quick dvd change over – we gave them back their copy of the Hayao Miyazaki movie “Spirited Away” and they in turn let us borrow their copy of “My Neighbour Totoro” which we watched last night with some delicious Indian Take away.

I was intending to get along to the Craft and Quilt Fair at Jeff’s Shed some time this weekend to have a look at the teddy bear making stalls thinking they might be a useful place to pick up a few things like eyes and buttons and so on for toy making. In the end I decided that the $14 entrance fee was just too much and will have to leave it for this year. $14?? Give me a break.

And because some were asking, here’s my Blythe doll outside in the late afternoon sunshine. She’s wearing a dress I made based on Christina’s simple dress pattern which was indeed simple. Thanks Christina!

You must get your hands on a copy of Studio Ghibli’s “Omohide Poro Poro” — you will simply fall in love with it.

Those are dolls you can’t help but *want* to draw… dammit, Claire, I don’t need another obsession!
